Hi, I’m Lara!

I'm a Freelance Writer, born and raised in Germany, and now living with my husband in Shoreditch, the melting pot for young creatives in East London.

I love everything about books. I love reading them, smelling them, discussing them, sharing them, taking them with me on holiday, to the park, on the tube, to bed. If it were up to me, I would rarely do anything other than immerse myself in a good book.

And then, while humanity was locked up inside their homes, I wondered whether I shouldn't give it a try and write one myself....

I write...

...because I feel I spend my time in a meaningful way. I consider myself lucky to be able to pursue my passion.

However, it’s not only about spinning words into pretty sentences and sentences into pretty stories. My aim is to create a shareable experience.

True satisfaction comes with you, the reader on the other side, who hopefully feels entertained and stimulated by my stories.

My writing journey...

... followed a winding road.

I remember my first writing attempts; a stringing together of gruesome details that had little to do with good stroytelling. Even though my fixation on gory content has waned over time, my dream of becoming a writer has never really faded.

But it wasn't until 2021 that I decided to quit my job in finance and focus on building a career as a writer. I have dabbled in writing short stories across all genres (not only horror 🤞), I’ve written a screenplay and also non-fiction articles. At present, my main focus is on completing my first contemporary novel PAIN/T.

A driving force for my progress as a writer has been, and continues to be, the weekly seshions with other fellow writers in which we discuss our respective works and whose constructive criticism is invaluable.

I gained certificates in Creative Writing from Wesleyan University (through coursera) and from the UKWritersCollege on Short Story writing for Magazines. Further, I took courses in writing novels and longer pieces at the City University of London. I hold an MSc in Economics from the University of Heidelberg, Germany.

My dream one day...

...to get a review like Toni Morrison did for her novel Song of Solomon. Full of great people... They still haunt my house. I suspect they'll be with me forever. ’ Anne Tyler, Washington Post

For me, that is the true power of writing.
